Hi there! Long time no see. 

Since I last posted, we got a couple years of a pandemic under our belt, I had a baby, and I quit Instagram.

I think that pretty much covers it.

Let’s talk about house projects.

Although I have stopped posting on Instagram, the work on our house continues. Yes, there is life outside of Meta. In fact, I think these past few months have been our most productive in … a while.

Here’s what has happened since last time we posted anywhere:

We had our chimney rebuilt.

We used Expert Chimney Services in Syracuse. They did a great job matching the new brick to our old brick.

We got a new roof.

This is no small feat when you have a Dutch Colonial house with an original cedar shake roof. If you know, you know.

Our entire roof was removed and replaced over a span of 4 days. This was our most feared project due to the cost and scope. It ended up being a lot less painless than we thought. More on that process in a future blog post.

We began our slow pantry and kitchen renovation. 

We’re adding a pantry where we’re pretty sure there used to be a pantry. We currently have the walls framed out and the wiring done. 

The plan is to build out the pantry, restore the original layout of the kitchen, and then think about how we want to lay out a modern kitchen with a 1915 layout and modern appliances. Again … more on that in a future post!

But first, we need to …

Upgrade our electric panel.

As more appliances and cars move toward electric, we need to upgrade our electric panel. That will happen in early 2023.
